Math Teachers’ Circles: What Makes a Good One?

joshDCWhat makes a good Math Teachers’ Circle session? What makes a good Math Teachers’ Circle problem? These are the questions asked of each team at our How to Run a Math Teachers’ Circle workshops.

At the workshop in Washington, D.C., in June 2014, Angie Hodge (Omaha Area MTC) compiled the answers that were generated, and wrote a nice blog post about them on “Math Ed Matters,” a monthly column sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America.

You can find Angie’s blog post here: Math Teachers’ Circles: What Makes a Good One?

For the MTC veterans out there, do the items on the lists above square with your experience of what makes a good Math Teachers’ Circle? What would you add to the list?
